Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogging Stroller, Skylar
From the Manufacturer
Skylar Expedition Double Jogging Stroller with front swivel wheel is made for two children. This has 5 point harnesses, multi position reclining seats and an over sized fender. The ratcheting canopy contains speakers for an MP3 player hook up and protects the children from the sun and wind. There are three quick release pneumatic wheels, a parent tray with two cup holders, and the stroller is quick and easy to fold.

I am very happy with our Baby Trend double jogging stroller. I haven’t had anything break and it’s a pleasure to push, easy to assemble and use. I had previously bought and returned the InStep Suburban Safari Double Stroller and I was not happy with it. I use the stroller everyday for long, fast walks. I have a long stride and I like that I don’t kick the back axle of the Baby Trend (that’s the main reason I returned the InStep). I also like that the back axle is metal not plastic (the InStep one was plastic) and that the back wheels are large. The front wheel can lock straight or can swivel. On my single stroller I always kept it straight for fast walking, but on this one I’ve been able to leave it on swivel and it still pushes very smoothly. The sun shade has a flap so you can see your children. It also is ratcheted and not sewn on to the seat so it can be moved to wherever the sun is which works great. The straps don’t have pads, so if your child is small enough to need them you would have to add them. The stroller will fit out my front door but not doors inside my house, so I’m not sure how it would do if your main use is shopping. It does fold down easily and fits in the back of my mini van. The wheels can also be removed easily to make it flatter. Hope this helps!

Everything I was looking for and more
I am totally impressed with this stroller. I did a lot of research and I don’t regret my choice to purchase this one. I love it…my kids love it…
I bought and returned 4 of these strollers within 1 month.
Why was I so crazy? I really wanted this stroller. I thought it was perfect for my needs. After weeks of internet searches, comparing strollers, and reading reviews, I went to Babies R Us 4 times in 2 weeks to test drive their floor model. I brought my 2yr old and 5 month old to test it out too. I loved how easy it was to push and steer it. It was a dream. I love the ratcheting canopy, the parent tray, the storage, individually reclining seats, etc. I just loved it. So, I bought one.
After I put it together and was pushing it around my home, I noticed the wheel did not turn well at all. It was NOT locked, I checked. It would just skid sideways and not turn. This was a deal breaker. I already had a stroller that was difficult to steer. So, I exchanged it.
The second stroller turned well and seemed wonderful. We took it to the mall for a test drive and when I went to put it in the car, I noticed that the trigger on the left side to collapse the stroller wouldn’t pull. Then, I realized that it was because it was never locked! It was broken straight out of the box! So, I returned it. At this point, I took a moment and called the manufacturer. I told them about my difficulties with their strollers and that I was actually considering getting a third one. I wanted some kind of reassurance of good customer service in the event that I got a stroller that wasn’t broken before I got to use it. What if something breaks after 3 mos? After 15 min of going through a looped recorded message, a rep finally answered the phone. The rep told me that these things happen and that there is a 6 mos warranty. They would send out a prepaid shipping label and have the stroller back to me in about 2 weeks. She had a very matter of fact tone. Just from that conversation, I got the impression that my business didn’t matter. I didn’t trust that I would be helped if I needed it.
With that said, yes, I did go on to buy it again. I really wanted this stroller. I decided to change vendors and ordered 2 online through Target. I ordered 2 because I was no longer confident that I would get a stroller that wasn’t defective. Yes, I did still want this stroller. The website said they would ship in 4-6 weeks but I got them both within a week. I was very excited. Unfortunately, my excitement was shortlived when I pulled them out of the box. Zip ties had been already cut off of them and thrown in the box, the tires were covered in a sticky grease, and the paint was all chipped away where the swivel wheel attaches… on BOTH strollers. I was going to overlook the fact that I was obviously getting someones returns. We took one to the mall for a test drive. It was great… until we left. As I stepped off of the sidewalk onto the parking lot, it began to violently shake. It shook so strongly that, if I had been actually jogging, it surely would have flipped upside down and my girls’ faces would have hit the pavement.
Most of these defects were more irritating than anything but the shaking and broken latch put my children at risk.
So, 4 strollers later, I’m done. I wish this stroller wasn’t such a poorly made piece of garbage. I would not recommend anyone buy this stroller. I saw similar reviews but took a chance… I took 4 chances. Don’t waste your time, gas, and money in shipping. Spend a little more and get a product you can trust.
I bought this stroller about six months ago when my two toddlers (now 2 and 3.5) outgrew the lightweight Peg Perego double we had been using. It was easily less than half the price of other high-end double jogging strollers.
My favorite thing about it is that it’s SO easy to push, even with one hand and 70 pounds of kids inside. The large wheels run very smoothly. I’ve pushed both kids around for 10 hours at a time at Disneyland without any issues on my end.
It is a MUST to have the lock/unlock front wheel feature–there are times when you need to use one or the other. In general, I think the faster you push or the more unbalanced the two kids are in weight, the more you will need to lock the front wheel. Fantastic storage on three levels (upper, middle, lower) and I appreciate the two cup holders. The fact that the canopy can swivel all the way from top to bottom (unlike our Peg Perego’s) is also a huge plus.
There are two reasons I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5:
1. I do not like having a stroller or carseat that has a covering which cannot be removed and washed in the washing machine. With two kids in this stroller every time it’s used, it gets messy to the point where wiping it with a sponge is completely useless.
2. The wheel-to-wheel width seems to be just about 1/2 to 1 inch wider than a standard retail door frame. I’ve had to bypass certain stores simply because I couldn’t get the stroller inside the door! If it was slightly less wide (like the width of a wheelchair?), it would be perfect.
All in all, this is our fourth stroller purchase (single or double) and it’s right up there with our expensive Bugaboo Frog in terms of ease of use. We love it.

Nice features but a big flaw
I bought this stroller for use on a family vacation at Disneyland and to jog with later. I have a 4 1/2 year old and a soon to be 3 year old.

Great strolle!!
I’ve been using this stroller for about 6 months now. I walk about 5 times a week. My almost 3 year old and 14month old love it.
